The Human Development Index with Multiple Data Envelopment Analysis Approaches: A Comparative Evaluation Using Social Network Analysis

Abstract The objective of this work is to use multiple Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA)/Benefit the Doubt (BoD) approaches for readjustment and exploitation Human Development Index (HDI). HDI leading indicator vision “development as freedom”; it a Composite Index, wherein three dimensions (income, health, education), represented by four indicators, are aggregated. DEA-BoD used in were: traditional BoD; Multiplicative Slacks Based Measure (SBM) Range Adjusted Model (RAM) weight restrictions; common weights; tiebreaker methods. These were applied raw normalized data from 2018, generate 40 different rankings 189 countries. resulting indexes analyzed compared using Social Network (SNA) information derived DEA itself (slacks, relative contributions, targets, targets benchmarks). This paper presents useful that could be replicated other contexts. In addition, contributes presenting clearer picture differences between BoD models offering new way appreciate world's human development panorama.
